Agreed, some of my best scores have come from just staying back, playing it safe and taking long shots. The game rewards campers for staying alive and not doing much, and the players who actually try and take risks, get punished for it.
I learnt very early on that i could just stay back and play it safe for a whole game and consisently score well, and thats what i do for the first one or two games i play when i log on, after about the third or forth i'll get cocky and start to rush in and get killed alot.
But if you have the patience for this style of play and know how to work the angles(spawn points etc.), you can easily score high KDRs every game IMO.
I totally agree with the latency thing too, I've seen some of the great players play, and can honestly say that the only amazing thing about them is how much more effective their bullets seem to be more than mine.
the most annoying thing about cod4 for me is that tradional fps skill(Aiming, movement, using cover etc.) doesn't seem to play much of a factor in playing well.
