Well, your system has an inbuilt recevier which will do the job nicely.
Of course, a seperate stand-alone reciever could do the job a lot better but likely will cost a LOT more money. I wouldnt bother as your one will be fine for your needs. Basically, if you wanted to spend REAL money on a BIG system then you would buy a top of the range receiver and some amazing speakers. It comes down to money.
As racer mentioned, you can plug the PS3 into the Receiver/DVD unit to make use of the Graphics and Sound Settings that are probably available.
Thats for sound.... I wonder if you will get a better picture by pluging the PS3 straight into the TV than via another source.
Best thing to do is experiment with a few different scenarios and settings.
I think the simplest setup is to plug the PS3 into the TV and port the TV audio though to your Sound System. Surely that will give the best of both worlds.... Yeah, go with that. ou'll only need one cable each.
