Snake has been through a lot in the past few years. After infiltrating a nuclear weapons base in the Arctic, he risked it all on an oil rig outside New York, before making his way to the jungle where he had to live off dead tropical creatures and get beaten up by a girl. Time has caught up with the elusive ex-soldier, and in 'Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots' it's really starting to show.
Yes, Snake is back, and to say that he's been missed would be an understatement. Every time the game's creator Hideo Kojima comes up with a new story, it becomes a huge gaming talking point from internet games forums to offices and playgrounds. 'MGS4' has been no exception, with the main speculation revolving around rumours that this could be the
Metal Gear where Snake finally runs out of luck, the inevitability of his death becoming more obvious than ever before.
Returning to the game are the likes of series favourites Ocelot, Hal and Otacon, and the slightly less popular Raiden. All have aged considerably since the last time we saw them – who will prove vital to the story, and who is there for mere cameo effect? Only time will tell.
One thing is certain -
IF this is indeed the last 'Metal Gear' ever, you can have no doubt the Hideo and the team at Konami will have pulled out all the stops to deliver a story of pure quality, which will keep you on your toes from start to finish. We can also expect phenomenal graphics, beautiful cut scenes and top-drawer gameplay, making this the true 'Hollywood Game' that the series has always aspired to.
It has already topped all polls as the most highly sought after game for the PS3 and we are all pretty excited about it at PS3M.
