Thought Call of Duty 4 meant no more WWII? Think again
Those of you who enjoyed the latest Call of Duty's modern-day approach may be saddened to learn that Treyarch (the dev team responsible for three, and, who will quite possibly end up doing seven) is taking the series back to World War II for the fifth game in the series. ..START AD BOX CODE-->..END AD BOX CODE-->
Well, that's if a recent job ad on the Treyarch website is anything to go by.
The ad, which is for a level builder, in case you're interested, doesn't give away any concrete info as such, but after asking for applicants with "working experience with First-Person Shooter or Third-Person Shooter genres", does go on to add, "if you're a fan of World War 2 shooters, then even better!".
Which if you ask us is a bit of a giveaway. Why would the ad say that if the person lucky enough to bag the job ends up on designing levels for a modern-day or futuristic shooter anyway?
What do you reckon? Are we reading too much into it? Also, what do you make of the step back to WWII? After the success of COD4, is this what you really want? As ever, let us know in the comments section below.
Oh, and cheers to forum user 'farquad92' for the heads up. Your stock is rising number 92…

yeah i know, i definately saw this coming, treyarch and infinity ward switch every sequel, and i think infinity ward is going to stick to modern day, but treyarch prefers the WWII setting, so COD6 will be modern day more than likely, then 7 will be some war back in the day.
To be honest, I never played the single player campaign mode, had no interest, playing online was always better to me. Didn't in Cod3 nor Cod4, so it won't be as big of a difference as it is to me

we're not referring to single player, online, and it does matter online because it depends which weapons you'll have, what teams there will be, and what type of maps and settings there will be...big difference from WWII to modern day
Ugh. I'm tired of seeing WWII related games. There were plenty of other great wars back then! I'd like a see a very good realistic war game based on something else. Or at least from different perspectives! I'd even enjoy playing a game where you play a Jew that had to escape from a Nazi prison camp.. Or an American POW (like the movie "Stalag 17")!
awh i think thats a stupid idea, i liked the whole modern wardare no matter what other people think i say its better than CoD3, but if they are going back to ww games then it doesnt really matter because most people will buy it anyway because every game in the CoD series is amazing no matter the setting

Well lets see if they take the current concept and make it work in the new game.
Chat enabled, party rooms but this time IN GAME MESSAGING. Oh the tactics will be fantastic with weapons we love ... oh and this time i hope the connection is better than BOTH games put together.
