Bar the obvious and not getting killed a lot can the more gifted players
on COD4 pass on in game hints and tips to improve the way I can fully
take advantage of the game you must have picked up a few tricks on the way (don't mean the street kind). I thought I was decent but been put in my place quite a few times

I'd have to know how you play, how you get caught into trouble, and what some weaknesses are that you have that may make it somewhat easy to kill you. There's a million tips and tricks, though it's the player that carves off the excess info and take what they he needs.
Use your surroundings, remember to go prone. learn the enemy's popular routes for each level and use them to set up for ambushes. flank the enemy (flanking is basically surprising them from an unexpected area [did you watch 300?]). i would go into detail and say know that the G3 takes 14 stopping power bullets and the m9 doesn't even use up one clip to blow up a car but, that might be too much info. experiment with claymores and c4 often. just learn from your mistakes. skill is something you develop, you don't need to be biting other people's playing style..
staying close to other teamates will increase your chance of surviving, never go anywere alone because they will just pick you off easy
cage match is good because its just you and one other player. its easy to talk to the other player about his clan and how to join it
Unless you're sniping, like Palmer said. Also, when sniping.. snipe enemies off of pinned team mates, they like that. If you're lucky, you might even get friend requests for watching your team mates' back.
patience, if you take that extra minute to take a route to another place to get an advantage, do it, it's worth it, even if it's for that 1 kill, it'll help your ratio and your life span each spawn.

LMAO, I remember me and sunny and Playa were in a team tactical sabotage on Ambush playing against some n00bs and we glitched the bomb up into the buildings where they couldn't get it for the entire 20 mintues.That was the best game ever.
