We are often asked the question 'I want to set up a clan, how do I do it?'
Well, there are a few parts to creating a Clan so I will mention them here in order:
1. Decide upon a Clan Name
These are often cool or relevant names. For shooting games they will most lilely represent something to do with death, killing or famous Armies.
Examples on this site are Hells Gunners (HG) , United States Marine Corp (USMC) and so on.
Another option is to make it stand out, such as Pink Elelphants.
2. Decide upon a Tag and your Clan Network ID as leader
Clan players will ALWAYS have a Clan Network ID which tells everyone else what Clan they are in which is crucial. You don't have to delete your existing Playstation Network (PSN) ID, you can just create a New User on your PS3 and create your new Clan ID.
Clans tend to take their Clans name and shorten in into a TAG with a few letters.
For example, if your Clan is to be called Satans Killer Army then your shortened TAG could be SKA.
Therefore, your Clan Network ID would be SKA_yourname.
Other forms of these Clan IDs are:
xxSKAxx-yourname or S-K-A_YoUrNaMe.
It's completely up to you!
3. Recruit Members
There are a few good ways to recruit potential members. The best way is to recruit people that you have played online. If you've had a good game or you think they were good players then simply send them PSN message after the game ends and ask them if they would like to join your clan.
Another good way is to ask for members on the various Playstation 3 forums.
4. What PS3 Multiplayer can offer you
You can have your own Forum in the Clans section. You can use this to showcase your clan, mention your Clan ethos or joinging rules, ask for members and talk with other clans. You also get a Private subsection just for your members.
To have your own clan created contact Admin or a Super-Mod with following details:
Clan Name.
PS3 Game the Clan plays.
Password for the Private section.
Whether it's a North American or European/Australasian Clan.
5. Joining a Clan League
We have Clan Leagues for all the major PS3 games so that Clans can have more fun and keep a record of their wins and losses. The Leagues are all held on our sister site at

To sign up your clan on that site for a League the Clan leader must register there. Its a separate site so requires a new registration, your PS3 Multiplayer details will NOT work. It would be wise to use your PSN id for this in case you later join any 1x1 Knockout Tourneys.
Once your registration has been validated you need to log in to the site and click on 'Join an Event' which can be found on the left hand side menu on the main clan page

Then simply follow the instructions to create your team. You will need to select the PS3 game that your clan plays. If you wish to join more than one league then you can do so by simply repeating the process and instead of creating the team again you will be able to simply add it.

6. Adding Players to your Clan roster
You will need to add all your Clan members to your team on the PS3 Leaderboard site.
Each member of that site gets a uique Player ID number.
To add a member to your team the Clan Leader needs to login and click on 'Account Manager'.
You will then see a link for 'Add Member' which you need to click. You will then simply have to add your member's Player IDs and repeating the process for all members.

7. Clan Graphics
All clans should have some good graphics. A good graphic would look good on your forum opening thread, your clan website or in your signatures on the various forums like this one.
