Fight night 3 What's the difference?

Other then the graphics. Does anyone know the difference between
Fight Night Round 3 on PS 3 and Fight Night round 3 on PS 2?
Are there more characters?

Ah, I noticed this game came out a couple of days ago...

It is pretty much identical to the 360 version, the graphics are almost identical.

There are a couple of changes. There is one addition that they have called 'Get in the Ring'. It basically changes your boxing view to one where you see out of the actual eyes of the boxer. Similar to when you change to a behind the wheel view in a racing game it is actually completely different and it will be challenging at first. the advantage is it is far more fun, feels like you are really there and being hit is scary!
It also places a better emphasis on throwing the right punches as you are square on to the opponent and can better jugde what punch to throw out.

Its got the great 2 player mode and excellent online play.

Good game.

I reckon that it will be 6 months to a year before somebody creates a boxing game specific to the PS3's capabilities using the HD and full power of the processor. The game should be perfect then with even better sweat flying off punches.... :)

Definately worth $60 if only to get rid of some agression...

Thanks for the info Snake. I was hesitant of getting this game, because I thought it was the same as on the PS2. But It looks like I'm gonna have to go pick it up.

Yeah, definately better than the PS2 version.
It has more bits plus is at least as good looking as the 360 version.

Should be a great game and will probably be on my list after the other dozen already on it !

For me, this first person view jumps the game up into a different league than before. Far more exciting.....

Can you iimagine how much fun online play would get...

One on one.. Huge competitions and an actual 'World Champion' !!

I got the game - first game I bought with the system. Is it any good? The short answer is yes...yes it is good, and the online play gives it a new lease of life after you've exhausted the career mode. My only real problem with the game is that the career mode is actually very poor. You can 'create' your boxer, but the EA facials aren't that great - it's actually very difficult to get the boxer looking anything like yourself. Also, little things: you should be able to choose your style of shorts and gloves, and change them to whatever color you want, but you can't: you unlock sponsored equipment as you work through your career, but there are no modifications - what you see is what you get. The biggest problem with the career mode is that there are no world standings - no ranking systems. What the hell is that? At no stage do you know where you are ranked in the world. You don't know who the current champ is. Also...when you get to fight for the belt, there are no big announcements, and the Champ doesn't enter the ring wearing the belt. Not good. Not good at all.

That being said, this is a fun game, and you should pick it up. I play it a lot, but without the online play this would have been traded inside of two weeks.

Room for improvement, EA.

Nice report, CD!

It sounds like it was a bit of a rush job like a few of the other PS3 games, mentioning no names....

EA do tend to go for gameplay over total realism/depth which can often make them a lot of fun.

Is there a ranking system online whereby you fight your way up a leaderboard to be the best in the world at any one point...!!
THAT WOULD BE COOL!

Well, Marke...here's the good news: there is an online ranking system, allowing you to fight for the #1 spot.

Here's the not-so-good news: you'd better be a frickin' Fight Night superstar, becuse the guys at the top of the tree are good - damn good. I thought I was Rocky goddam Balboa until I went online and started fighting the guys (or girls) with a higher rating.

Wrong - I was a chump! I have to stick to the easy fights.

Winning is so much for fun than losing.

yeah, I know that feeling....

It sometimes depends on the time of day...

What do I mean by that?

Well, if you catch a Japanese time zone you will be up against the Japanese. They often opt for westernized handles so dont be fooled if you think the online id of BobKennedy has to be American!

i dont know if they sleep with their PS3s but some of those guys are unbeliveble. I can just about consider myself equal on the shooting games buy they awe uncatchable on the sports games and particularly the racing games. the Japanese grew up with nearly all the arcade racing games we played as kids and it shows..... 8O

On a similar note, i dont think it is possible to be a master of more than one of these online games. If you want to become an elite on one of them then it requires dedicationa nd practice, no doubt.

ha, youre right.

I can usually get in the top 3 when playing online COD battles but I get NOWHERE near the top few places on Ridge racer 7.
Those guys rule it. I imagine its the same for NFS Carbon, which I do own, but have never gone online with it yet!

Hmmm...when you go online with Fight Night you actually get a little national flag next to your name, depending on the address you enter when your register or update or whatever the hell it is you have to do to get the PS3 online. So far all I have seen is USA and Canadian flags. No Japanese.

I'll concede that the Japs are better than us at some video games...but then, they do make pretty good games, too.

But we own Grand Theft Auto. I'm looking forward to playing that online...and pulling those little guys out of their Toyotas and Nissans. How much fun is THAT gonna be?

you're right, the japanese are not into boxing.

They are into racing, shooting, golf and the 'funny' games...They are sh*t hot on rideg racer 7.

The flag idea is a good one although we all know things can get a little, shall we say, Nationalistic....
