Question What's the point of folding @ home?

To me, it seems like you just run it and people at a college get info from that. It hasn't been too much fun right now. If there's something that I'm missing , tell me.

Call me paranoid.....or better yet, call me cheap. I have to pay for my monthly internet connection, WITHOUT assistance from Folding@Home. Finding cures for diseases? With my PS3? Without reimbursing me?Hmmmmm......no thanks. lol

You'd have to pay your internet connection with or without running folding@ home so why not run it. It's going to be funny when Irony strikes and you develop cancer, and die right before the cure comes out they developed from one work packet that you could have done but didn't do.

Re: What's the point of folding @ home?

its a program that folds proteins using work units downloaded from Stanford. with the ps3's impressive processor it makes a huge difference. all it costs you is the electricity, so just run it, unless you're a cheap jackass.

Re: What's the point of folding @ home?

Does it take hardrive space, because I'll run it but I only have the 40g version so if it takes harddrive space I won't.
