Ok first of all, I LOVE Grand Theft Auto Games and I beat GTA IV... Just to put that out there.
I am going to list some reasons of why I absolutely hate GTA IV.
I'm going to try and put these in order from things that are small to large.
1. This isn’t technically Rockstars fault, but is a little. Rockstar and others Hyped up this game WAYY too much. It also doesn’t really help that Rockstar kept delaying it and made us wait just to find out that the wait wasn’t necessarily worth it.
2. The overall fun
This is a little harder to explain, so sorry if it isn't clear. OK, I'm just going to go back to San Andreas again, the missions in that game just felt like they were centered around the players enjoyment rather then the story, yes there was story but the missions were just different. Like some of the missions in GTA IV just felt like filler... don't get me wrong doing that jailbreak was fun but if all missions were like that then I wouldn't have this complaint. Anothere reason I really don't like the missions is that in all of the other games you can just practically run around and gun people down... but in GTA IV you need to use cover and this just took away some of the fun.
3. Missing Things
Ok Look, Seriously, how could Rockstar mess this up. There are so many things that they could have put in this game that they didn't. For example, The RPG element from San Andreas, Lack of weapons, Lack of the abilty of customization, and others.
RPG: Ok This was just something small, but it was pretty good might I add, It was just cool how, if you did something you would get a little better at it in time.... I really don't know why this couldn't be added in easily.
Lack of Weapons: Seriously, this is the one that is the worst... Why? The amount of weapons in San Andreas and Vice City was awesome. I mean there are many weapons in GTA IV... but it just lacks the real feeling of variety.
Customization: Really this can be broken down too, but ill put it all in one paragraph to save you guys/girls. OK, CJ in San Andreas was practically completely customizable (except gender and race)... hair, clothes, accessories. But Niko can only get clothes and some accessories... what is this about.. some people like to have their characters how they would like.. maybe just like the online play... hmmm. Ok and now CARS!! Why would they leave this out.. I loved the car garages in San Andreas... Doing what you wanted to you car.. enough said.
There were many things to do in the others.. Vice City let you buy businesses… you can’t do that in GTA IV. Also in GTA:SA You could buy houses.. although Liberty City isn’t that large, this would still be cool.
Ok garages to save cars please.
OK That’s about all I really can think of right now and feel like complaining about..
Just to Clarify, I love Rockstar and GTA IV isn’t absolutely terrible it just needs some major improvements.

I agree with just about all those. I really wish you could customize your character way more than you are able to now. Also Customizing your car really wouldn't be that big for me. I never drive the same car for more than 15 minutes lol .
I sort of agree with you on weapons. I don't really want more guns. I would prefer a few more unique weapons like the baseball bat. Nothing better than running down the sidewalk smacking people with the bat
The story mode is OK. I wish you could have more Do this or Do that situations but not many games have more than GTA4.
Overall it's a pretty good game. Just a few flaws that they'll hopefully fix in the fifth
i liked the casinos in san andreas.....i mean once you beat GTA 4 there was nothing to do but take your jew cousin to some crap ass resturant.......the story got boring every mission involved killing people inside a warehouse......and i do miss changing u how my guy looks.....
Well, you most probably know that it freezes hardcore, and If one day it freezes, and it wont let you exit the game, you will have no other choice but to switch it off from the back, which is where you make the biggest mistake of your life. If you do it, it will damage the Blu Ray reader and you will have no other choice but to repair it or throw the PS3 away. This problem is still occuring, and unless they patch it, I will never play the game again.
most of ur complaints are not that big of a deal though.
overall the game is good. single player was great and i thought the missions were fun and some challenging.. online is fun too.
I personally think online sucks. The game modes are creative and fun with the ability to go anywhere but the auto lock is the worst thing ever. I can easily kill every person i shoot at in less than 3 shots by using autolock and moving it up at the head. Get rid of the auto lock and you MIGHT have decent online.
ALso if there is an option to get rid of auto lock sorry. Only played online a handfull of times.
Edit: I do realize if you let go of L2 a little you can free aim but that doesnt fix the problem. Nobody free aims in online playing other players.

my NHL 08 game froze multiple times. along with GTA IV. i have used the switch in the back. no problems. i know its not good to do a lot but once in a while will not break it. my system is pure living...well dead proof
Yeah, same here. I played online and really hated it. I just didn't critcize the online because i was just glad Rockstar put it in the game. Its kinda cool with the whole city at your fingertips online but when people start going to the other side of the map during a deathmatch, it gets old real fast

It doesnt ruin the system if you turn off the back switch once...
ive had to do it a few times.... and like flagstealer ive had no problems
i just dont get what some ppl do to their ps3s to break them
I literally switch it off from the back for fun,then last Friday, I went on Cod4, froze at the intro, and turned it of from the back, now my console can't read any discs. So my PS3 is broke. But I rang Sony, and they are sending me an Exchange on Tuesday. That's awesome. I hear in the states, they give you a box and you put the PS3 in the box, and send it back to them, and could have to wait a whole Month for it back. Long that.
