Sounds like a PSU issue (Power Supply Unit). Quite easy to replace if Sony isnt any help. Send me a PM and I can send detailed instructions on removal/installation & where to source.

No power output? I think your mistaken there cuzza. If it was the laser, the consoles power shouldnt be affected. Only possibilty is BD Drive shorted, and blew the main PSU, but it would happen very abbruptly (i.e. Sudden loss of power)

Just go to the 'Sign In' screen and click 'Forgot Password'.

in usa , u have to wait for a box and than send in the ps3 and wait another 2 weeks for a refurbished one ... the 80's suck I know at least 30 plyrs that their unit fried. I'm on my 3rd ps3 in the past 5 months and it runs hotter than the 40 gb I rented . theirs a flaw in the 80's
