PS3 vs. Wii

Why do you think that the PS3 will be better (or worse) then the Wii? I think that it is just going to be better because I really loved the PS2. Not much of an argument I know, but.. lol ;)

A lot of it will come down to brand loyalty and what systems they had before, especially for those people who have already invested many hundreds in to previous games which they can still play on the new consoles.

A lot of people will have moved to the 360 from the Xbox, PS2 and Revolution. There wont be many people migrating from the 360 to the PS3 due to money constraints.

I do see new gamers fresh to the market buying the PS3 fom early 2007 onwards but a lot of damage has already been done.

sony is all about ripping us off!
their system ps3 is WAY over priced...
they dont give a *expletive deleted* about gamers.

they have nothing new to offer.
same old games... slightly better graphics.
is this all that matters?

mgs, fighters, racers, war games...
where is the creativity?
same old games that we beat in two days!

at least nintendo is trying something new.
they always do.... even if it sucks.
the point is that they are all about the gamers!

i say, screw the mega corps ms and sony.
lets get back to the roots of gaming.
show them that money does matter....
and that having fun shouldnt cost you two paychecks!

I think you're right in that the system is expensive and this alone will put many potential buyers off.

However, 'overpriced' is not necessarily the correct word in this case. It refers to something costing more than its value. In the PS3's case it showcases a LOT of special new technology, is way advanced over any other gaming platform (including $10,000 bespoke gaming PCs!) and includes Blu-Ray, the next-gen storage format to replace DVD.
In that light light the console could equally be reffered to as a 'Bargain'.
Remember, they are making a loss, in fact, on each console sold.

I think it comes down to affordability. Its expensive for the average punter and a bargain for the wealthy or highly motivated games player.

I concur with a previous post on this forum which mentioned that all-in entertainment systems are the future (i.e. HD TV that has an integrated Blu-Ray/HD_DVD, Cable, PC and Games machine in one.)
The PS3 is a very giant step towards that future.
