Heey, how you doing.

I have read some things about ps3 begin region free en that some games are region locked, so not ALL of them are playable on every ps3.

So my question is: If I buy a japanse ps3 (I livei n holland) and I plug on my tv and all (Dvi port which means HD) can I play every ps3 games and can I play every blu-ray movie too etc?

Ohw and an other thing. If I plug it with dvi (from hdmi to dvi) I don't have any sound...
I have a dvd player from sony which is connected to a 5.1 surround sound system and that player has a Optical sound plug in just like the ps3. So I think it's a tuner as well.
If I connect ps3 with dvd player, will it work or must I do other things too?

I'm not sure about the BD's but I would guess regional restrictions are still in place for those.

As for PS3 games, I hear that you should be able to play any PS3 game on any PS3.

As for PS2 games, the regional coding is still in place. I have 10 or so PAL (Region 2) PS3 games and my NTSC PS3 will not play them.

There ARE certain games from the Japanese store which people from the US region can't play. That I do know for sure. Why? Can't tell you except for the fact you're not able to interact with certain jap store demos if it requires a multiplayer online option. If it's a normal game you can play it, even if you can't read their language. But I think they restrict it to a japanese only server.

PSN has been getting smarter though, especially with making sure the name you use to buy a game through the store remains on your box. So if you let your friends download a game through your name and then they turn around and delete the account, they're no longer allowed to use that game. Who knows what other restrictions they'll come up with. But it wouldn't surprise me if they start blocking the use of demos, vids, or add-on's if you try and download them from a different region store.

you can play ALL ps3 games, but ONLY Japanese blu-ray disks, ps2 and ps1 games.

That sucks that I have to buy japanse ps1 and 2 games to play them :P
a **** it, i'll use my ps2 then/
As for blu-ray, there are some blu-rays that don't have regional locks on them so you could play them, but most of them do :(

And I also heard that I can make a USA,Jap and an EU account on the PSn netwerk, but I only don't know how anymore.
