Re: NAT Type help

Even though you're using a WEP key, you should still be able to DMZ the static IP anyway.

I'm pretty good with networking. If you can't get it to work, add me and I'll see if there's anything I can help you out with.

Re: NAT Type help

This happened to me. As soon as you bring another PC or other wireless based hardware into your setup it seems to knock the previous connections.

I found a lot of complicated stuff when I searched on it like port forwarding and static IP addreses which I cant really get my head around.

What did help is that I entered my router's online configuration panel and simply placed the piece of hardware I wanted to use in the DMZ (de-militarized zone).

On your main PC, cia your browser, get into you Router (mine is something like 168.192.1.0 ) .
Once logged in, click on whatever shows your current connections. Your PS3 should be listed on that list and it will show what IP address it is curerently using eg 172.158.12.4.
Now , go to the DMZ section (all these things should be clearly listed in the menu) and enter the PS3's IP address in the box provided. You may only have to enter the last digit.
Click 'SAVE' and that it is.

basically, what it does it puts the PS3 outside of the router/isp's firewall which gives you the strongest connection possible. This always gives me a NAT2 connection when otherwise it would be a NAT3.

Only do this with your PS3 or Wii. Don't put your actual PC in the DMZ for security reasons.
