I have checked all of the forums, they are just saying that it fixed a few bugs and updated the PS3 system security because hackers were getting too close.

i freaked out after i downloaded it...the screen went black for 5-10 minutes and i couldnt reconnect the controller. i ejected the disc, but i couldnt get it to turn off. i had to flip the switch, and i knew it was a bad idea but i had no choice. it came back on and continued just fine and installed it. PHEW

Gentleman, the update has set the "footing" for Sony's HOME project BUT including a security update at the backend of the update. If it was only a security update it would have been very small. FURTHER MORE if it was only a security update it would not jump from 2.10 to 2.17! It would go to 2.12/3 etc. Thus making it a dual update (Security and behind the scene software).
