ALL 80GB units that died
I would like to make a list of all the 80gb units that have died and their owners and send it to sony ,to see if they are going to do anything about it and about the warranty(My unit will probally spend 1/2 the warranty life sitting at customer service facility) that will run out ,leaving the 80 gb owners with a unit that will keep breaking down , until it dies proper and There is a design flaw in the 80's ,and my own unit died after only 11 weeks of using and I did everything to keep that unit fresh and clean. then after waiting about 4 weeks for a refurbished unit ,it lasted 3 hrs the first night than the next day it said"cannot start, the correst hard disk was not found". sony said it will have to be replaced again.another 3 to 4 wks down time.... the 80 gb units will never be right and sony should fix the 80gb design flaws, and make it right by replacing the units

dude First , what I wrote was the truth .you may not like what I have to say ,but its always going to be the truth!!! I got my refurbished ps3 friday at 3pm est ,tried to load my thumb drive but it wouldnt boot up my stats just my psn acct. so I started over, played for 1 hr went to dinner w/my girl came home had 2 clan battles ,one w/LOCO and one wJAG lasted 2hr i min for a total of 3hr 1min on my leaderboard before I loged out. went to bed ,than work sat morning.came home at 7pm est and
when I started up the unit ,the words,"cannot start:the correct hard disk was not found"So for three hr's worth of use it broke down again, dont insinuate I'm not telling the truth, ,because its disrespectful. everybody knows the 80gb are breaking down at an alarming rate. they even froze at the show in tokyo, with the whole world watching... I wish I knew that before I purchased a 80 unit I would have brought the 40 gbunit ,with its shortcomings and all(backwards comp.&no memory slots) but it works like a horse. I spent alot of $ on this unit and also traded in my 10 yr old ps2 that worked every day all my ps2 games three controllers and a multi tap for a unit that lasted 11 weeks . I always take ultra care of all my gear in the theater room . and it has served me well .

Re: ALL 80GB units that died
hey big ten. you made me think... I had the ps3 from 1/4/08 to march 24 when it froze up. and I had 7 days and 8 hr and whatever sec's worth of progress in cod4 which is the only game I played (played the free driving game for like 1/2 hour didnt like it at all) on the unit . if you do the math ,which i did . it adds up to . having the ps3 for 80 days. which is 1,920 hrs and I played the unit 7days and 8hrs which is 176 hrs thats 1,744 hrs of down time (if sony calculates the days and hours accurately when it calibrates the game)and if take the 80 days and devide by the 176 hrs played it is 2.02 hrs a day average. but thats just a mean. I did play one tournament with flutisat has the host.and that day I played for over 6 hrs straight(my eye was tearing down my face).but the ps3 worked fine after that .and all of the forums on different sites tell me that the 80 gb's were doomed from the begining. thats why they are redesigning the 80's. their thinking about putting the hard on the outside among other things, is what I heard .but who really knows.
