PS2 compatability

I read on here, in the Stats section, that the new console will run the PS2 and even the PSone games. Given the leap in technology, I am a bit worried not ALL of the games will, in fact, work on it.

I mean, SONY are't going to say anything esel, are they?

Well, they will have emulator technology inside it allowing for this.

Mind you, they had to do this to make the most of their huge customber base. To have started with a new machine unable to play PS2 games would have been a HUGE marketing mistake and played into the hands of their competitors! :(

Good point, Jake. They spent a decade getting this kind of loyalty. it would have been madness to have not done the compatabilty thing! 8O

hopefully the ps3 will be alot more dependable in disc reading than the ps2. maybe my ps2 blue discs will work in the ps3 ahah.

It's good that the ps3 will be compatible. I was concerned with the compatibiltiy when the ps2 came out, but after i bought a ps2 i realized i wouldnt want to play playstation 1 games anyways because of the outdated gameplay and graphics.

I think that all of the games are going to work becasue if they did not people would get mad at Sony so it is just better that they make them work and be compatable.

I think that is so awesome, that it will be able to play all the other games. I mean what other gaming platform does that? So cool :P I'm sitill going to save my PS1, and PS2 though, so that I can have them all. Think of how cool that will be when we are up to like the PS10 lol :)

There are bound to be some games that will just not work or will, at least, temperamental.

So long as they are not my favorite ones I will not mind too much...

I reckon when you see how good the PS3 games are, the PS2 will suddenyl seem a bit, well, redundant.... :?
