Need Help With PS3 and HTIB
Well I plan to get a PS3 soon but not yet and have a couple questions this is the HTIB that I have http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/4346/untitled22sj9.png
It goes up to 1080i so I was wondering is 1080p a lot better than 1080i and is there a very big difference between the two?How much would an HTIB cost that has 1080 p?Also I have a HDMI cable from my HTIB to my 52" Panasonic HDTV and if I wanted to setup a PS3 with the home theater system and HDTV how would I set it up to get the best picture and sound I can get and I have the component cables that I dont use. Also I dont that much about the home theater systems but jsut what exactly does a reciever do and do you really need to get one for your home theater system? Well, your system has an inbuilt recevier which will do the job nicely.
Of course, a seperate stand-alone reciever could do the job a lot better but likely will cost a LOT more money. I wouldnt bother as your one will be fine for your needs. Basically, if you wanted to spend REAL money on a BIG system then you would buy a top of the range receiver and some amazing speakers. It comes down to money. As racer mentioned, you can plug the PS3 into the Receiver/DVD unit to make use of the Graphics and Sound Settings that are probably available. Thats for sound.... I wonder if you will get a better picture by pluging the PS3 straight into the TV than via another source. Best thing to do is experiment with a few different scenarios and settings. I think the simplest setup is to plug the PS3 into the TV and port the TV audio though to your Sound System. Surely that will give the best of both worlds.... Yeah, go with that. ou'll only need one cable each. |

TO get the best sound from the home theater system what would work better an HDMI cable from the reciever to the tv and component cables from the PS3 to the tv or would it be better if I had it an HDMI cable from the PS3 to the Tv and component cables from the reciever to the tv?Also I am not an audioholic and dont know much about home theater same for my dad so because of that should I jsut stay with the system I have now and only get a receiver and better one if I know alot

the systems fine, dont worry about moving up to a seperate Reciever Unit and Speaker system until you wish to spend $1000+.
As for the cables, the latter set up will do fine... PS3 to TV = HDMi TV to HT = Component |

I went on the official PS3 forums and they said that HTIBS arent good and said anyone should get a receiver and all the other stuff

Nobody is saying here that a seperate receiver is the best way forward.
They are better, sure. But.. it comes at a price. They are more expensive and then you'll have the problem of deciding which one to go for and what speakers to get, etc. There is nothing wrong with your existing system. Instead of throwing money at a new receiver which requires better speaker anyway just use your system and see what YOU think about it! You may thing its brilliant and be very happy. By all means upgrade to a more expensive system at a later date. I play the PS3 straight into my HDTV via HDMI and it sounds great, good enough for me... If I bought a $100 cheap home theatre set-up it wold probably only give it a lot of bass becasue of the subwoofer otherwise i dont see the point. |
