Can't get HDMI cable to recognize /attempting to play NBA 07

I perchased the Philips PXT1000 HDMI cable today, plugged it up and can't get the system to accept the cable under Display Settings. I want to take advantage of the Full HD for NBA 07. Im not entirely sure why its doing this. Im only able to make use of the AV cable that came with it. Any help will be appreciated. :( I'll be glad to answer any questions for further help.

Sony PS3 60 GB edition
Philips PXT1000 HDMI cable

Umm, thats a strange one..
If its just NBA that has te problem then its the game., of course..

It should almost be just plug and play.

I'd perform a couple of last tests and then get the cable replaced or try it on anothe PS3/HD TV set up, say in the store, to see if the cable is working but the HDMI port on your PS3 is faulty (it will be under guarantee).

Once in the DISPLAY SETTINGS, you should be selecting HDMI and then press the right button to get to the next bit and select AUTO, then press right button again and make sure it sets the system and the screen changes. The screen resolution should get better and the writing smaller...

My TV is 1080i and it picks it up automatically and when I play a 760p game such as Call of Duty 3 then it automatically switches to 760p and back to 1080i when I put Ultimate Alliance or Ridge Racer 7 in.

One other thing, make sure you have the latest 1.32 update...

Snake, I believe he is saying that the system is not recognizing the cable,period.

There is definately a problem, for sure. It should pick it up immediately and set at the highest resolution whether that be 1080i or 1080p.

As Snake said, run a couple of more tests and then you need to ascertain whether its the cable at fault or the console. Then you nake the required replacement.

It must be frustrating for you. I guess all you want to do is get on it and start playing in full HD.

It will be worth the wait, it really does make a visible difference.
