Linux HD to SD

Hi,

I am one of those who own a ps3 but dont have a hdtv in room. How ever i do in my front room.

I am looking to install linux into my ps3. As i have ready many post on how to install...all instructions assumes every1 owns a hd, but there is text installing for sd-tv owners.

I was wondering if i can JUST use HD-TV to install linux and then transfer back to using sdtv. And also during installation on the hd tv do i need to use hdmi cable or can i just use cable provided (3 colour cable)

Is that right, Limux only runs properly on a HD screen ??

Very strange.

guess it needs a monitor like resolution to be able to see it properly...

At the end of the day, surely what TV wont affect installing it in the slightest, the only thing it will affect is how it looks....

I'm a consoler gamer, because I use my computers for Linux (Gentoo on both, baby).

I can't find anything supporting what you're saying. Logically, the only thing making Linux on a PS3 work only a High Definition TV, would be a lower level OS, that Sony made in order for it to work only in HD (or perhaps, limitation of some low level commands to work on SD's).

However, if you are right, and Sony is limiting working on a SD TV, then logically, you can't just install on a HD and transfer to a SD, unless Sony isn't just mean, they're stupid (in this regard, I'm not Sony bashing, but if they did this, it's moronic).
