broadband speeds.....

just wondered what speed your broadband connections are guys. ive only got 1Meg at the mo where i live (portsmouth, uk) but im moving soon and not sure weather to stick with my current supplier tiscali, or get a faster provider for when i get my PS3 (15days to go:lo l:!!!!) for online play. also, would it matter if i went with a provider that offered fast speeds, but a download limit?!?

I also live in the UK, Bristol to be precise. I asked a similar question a while ago, see thread UK broadband.
I have now been upgraded to 1Mb am am really hoping that there will not be any lag during online games.

What are you going to be playing?

hi lostdog, going to get motorstorm and resistance, come straight home, get connected then BANG....... 3 yrs waiting finally over and im in gaming heaven with my shiny new PS3!! im number 3 in the list from my local games store (they are getting 100 and they are all pre-ordered) so its guarenteed + hes going to give them out at the close of play on thurs 22nd cos he doesnt want to open at midnight or want the big scramble on the friday morning, so i get it a day early YYYYYYYYYYYIIIIIIIIIPPPPEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

if you have DSL it wont work good using your ps3 u will always get disconnected

You lucky sob, I'm number 55 but guarenteed so I'm happy. I have no idea when my local Game is opening, I'll pester them about a week before. motorstorm is the one I'm looking forward to the most, still debating whether to get resistance tho. FPS not my thing!

i am on 3mb in the UK with madasafish.

in the uk it is based on your local BT exchange..not the supplier, so you need to check what your new exchange can cope with....

try getting the phone number of your new house, or a local business to your new house.
enter that number on the bt internet web site, and that will give you a good idea of what speed you will have at the new house :)
