have we hyped this game too much?

Everyone, everywhere on every site have put this game at the very top of the tree of expectations....:rolleyes:

The question is, nobody has actually played the game in anger for any meaningful amount of time and are we not leaving ourselves open to a world of disappointment !? :(

you are correct in that te danger with high expectations is that it can only leave you with disappointment...

We do know that the game 'looks' good. We also know it has a good storylline and almost certainly good gameplay.

Now, this will be enough for me!;)

If it works and plays better than RFoM and COD3 then I will be very happy.

The same thing happened for all previous 3 (for consoles) and all of them turned out great nonetheless. The hype was set very high, and very few were disappointed, everyone had their high hopes achieved.

So I'll remain confident.

I agree with snake and slashmire, if you have seen the trailor, then you will see all the greatness is has in it, It deserves all the hype because this game can handle it unlike some others, True that nobody has played it yet, they will most likely release a demo in the near future, just a matter of time

If they release a demo in the Playstation store can you imagine how many download hits it would get.. It would probably break the server!!

You worry about disappointment. How can you worry about disappointment? This is Metal Gear Solid 4, the potential best game of this year. It certainly has my money. It has a more riveting storyline than Halo 3.

Hmm it reminds me of Kojima's quick blur as to what to expect next (in terms of trailers or ads) Kojima laughed, said that if he pulled things right he wondered the legality of what he was about to do.

...I wonder what he meant :)
