I think you'll find that should be written:
Because the
British aren
't
as smart as us
Americans
It does not seem to flow right either but it is not a bad effort...
I feel I have to interject here as 90% of the Americans on this website probably read that and nodded their heads actually believing it to be true!
Sorry to burst your bubble but considering the size of the US and it's population I think you will find it ranks poorly when compared to most of the developed world in a LOT of areas.
The US has huge natural resources providing inherent wealth and money is constantly injected in to important areas but to the detriment of the majority.
The large number of educated individuals will undoubtedly mean that the US will always produce some startlingly brilliant and creative individuals . However, at the other end of the scale, where statistics dare tread, is a lot of poorly educated people oblivious of life outside of their own neighborhood, on an unprecedented scale for developed nations.
A fairer comparison might be to compare the US with the
whole of Europe and in the areas of productivity, individual achiement and education you would be in for a very big shock.
The USA's strength in sport is a suitable analogy.
If the Olympics was contested with a pan-European team I think you would find the US medal haul down somewhere with the Eskimos..
On the whole, though, the US nation has much to be admired and it would be fair to say the cream of the US populous would rise to the top of any European nation.
The US has been the driving force in a lot of areas in the last 30 - 40 years but you will find even small little countries, the size of single US states, like Great Britain, Germany and Japan do actually offer a lot in the way of inventions and ideas!
It was indeed Britain and the Industrial Revolution which put us ALL where we are now. This good work was continued alongside the Americans, Germans and Scandinavians in the 20th Century with Japan ading a further boost in the latter part of the century. Look to Asia and particularly China for the next wave of industrial achievement in our generation.
In 500 years time, the history books will likely dwell on only a few eras as important, industrial moments in time.
- The Roman Empire
- The British Empire
- The Asian Empire
Back to education where facts speak louder than words!
This is 15 year olds and the US falls below the 500 average in everything bar female readers. The UK only scrapes through, admittedly

.
I would wager 85% of all Americans have not even heard of Finland but they put us all to shame!
