Well last night my Ps3 started turning off around the 1st minute I turned it on and would start blinking red. I got scared since alot of peoples PS3's have been experiencing Blu-Ray Damage and I guess its a ***** to fix.Well I went into Troubleshooting and to my surprise it was an overheating problem.I was very relieved and started to AIM Sundance and SoBeS on what best to fix the problem,and they came up with some good ones, but I came on here cuz I know some of u are very creative in ways of fixing problems. Thanks

uhh. If it just overheated let it cool down. and get all the dust off of it. I don't know what else there is to do. But im not that technically smart.

Well my fan broke and it made my ps3 overheat, but i got the "yellow light of death". It would turn on and instantly turn off. I believe on trouble shooting it said to wait 30 minutes to an hour before attempting to turn it on again. Put it in front of an Air Condition :]

Yea, like Beast said. Try to position your PS3 right under your air conditioning vent or put a fan up to it.

BTW, My PS3 is scheduled to get here today via UPS!!!!!

LOl...just go to best buy and get a waranty when u buy ur ps3.......

When my ps3 broke i had a brand new one in 30 minutes....

with my 360 i'd get a little desk fan used in offices for personal use...plug that in and put it on high pointing it at the vent...worked! it never even thought about getting hot...it tried though...hahah that's what i do..it is annoying to turn the fan on and off and shit, but it works.

shootr my idea to fix it is to save yourself the trouble and just send it in.....dont pull a beast and wait 3 months

put ice inside of it...or..fill up a cooler with cold water and drop it in..should cool it right off...but make sure you stick your hand in the water as you drop it in just to make sure that it is getting the coolness that it needs....also, if you stick a screwdriver into a wall outlet...money comes out

More like 4 and a half to be exact, but ill give it to you. If UPS delivered on weekends my ps3 would be here today.....But now i have to wait until Wednesday.

Hmm.. the air conditioning idea was, 'cool'. Reminds me that my air conditioning shit is directly behind my tv stand = relief!

Pfft 30 minutes? I was in and out the store with a brand new one in about 7 minutes flat. I love the best buy 2 year warranty

Sorry About not updating you guys, My laptops been broken so I have to use my moms desktop.Umm the verdict is none of the above have worked and believe me IV tried em all and so I called Tech Support and it needs to be sent in, but ima buy and small 20gb ps3 and use that for the 3 weeks itll probablly take. Is it possible to put your used 60gb hardrive into a 20gb ps3?...and everything would work?...Thnx Guys

shootr. what gb's is ur's ...Ive gone through 3, 80 gb units since january 4.. this new (refurbished ) one I bought a pelican fan and it has helped a little but it's starting to freeze up alot again and the 411 I got on the 80 gb's is there all faulty and wont last 4 yrs. they used a different sub contractor for the internal parts for the MGS special edition 80 gb ps3. so they wouldnt have the reoccuring problems with the units overheating and crashing the hard drives. the 60's and the 20's are bearly better.(the 40 gb is the work horse) there is a direct line to sony in san mateo ,calif for reoccuring problems 1-866-286-5123. get yours exchanged before the warranty runs out

Iv had the same 60gb since december the year it came out (2006), and it never game me a small problem

its the 80's that are the worst .. I know at least 100 plyrs that have had over heating with their 80's. and are on their like 2nd or 3rd unit already..when the 80's debuted in tokyo in the akiaburo district, all the 80's froze up. the best thing is to get an extended warranty at the store where you by it.. in and out exchange... it takes a week just to get a box to mail the fried unit back to sony.. WTF..than at least 2 weeks more to get it back from UPS..and once the sony warranty expires your fu-ked for 150.00 to get a refurbished one

my son has a 40 gb unit and he sometimes forgets and leaves it on all night ... no problems at all with his 40 gb
