The same thing happened to me with the blinking red light and stuff. Sent it to sony and got the email saying it is in the procces blah blah and they will send me a refurbished one back.
BTW, the problem is overheating, not caused from extended play, but from all the dust that has clogged the interior parts. So when i get back the refurb, I will run the Hoover over it once a week.
