Got the yellow light of death today :(

and my CoD4 disc is stuck inside.
wat the ps3 does is when i turn it on the blue light comes on(as it should) followed by a yellow light and then the red light flashes...
sigh....sounds like i need to send it in to Sony for service and pay $150 to get a refurb. :(

has this happened to anyone?

welcom to the Club Girl, Im sending mine 2moro, exact same stuff as me and my cod4 is in there, i got a Warranty on my ps3 though, so im sending it with a Post-It Note saying "Remove the CoD4 Disc Please =)"

i got the same problem to execpt my soul calibur 4 is in there

hahahaha. None of you guys are good with computers are you? If you want something fixed, do it yourself. The problem is probably one of the cells or the GPU. You should be able to tell just by opening it up. Resolder the chip and change the thermal paste.

I get community service for school refurbishing computers that are then donated to schools and other organizations. I do stuff like that all the time.

yea i was thinking of leaving a little note when i send it, and im out of warranty i got this ps3 Dec. '06 and its way past the yr warranty (didnt get extended or 2 yr...i regret it now)

sounds bad luckely for me mine broke in the first three months that i had it. so i had the warranty on it and got another one. i heard that most 60GB units broke down in the first year and people had to buy 40GB like me.

yea i hav a 60gb. and i googled the prblm and most ppl it happend to the warranty had just xpired....ill probably end up getting an 80gb so i can get a longer warranty cuz with the refurb they giv u , u only get 90 day warranty...

uh...i doubt thats the problem. thats wat causes the RROD in the 360. the yellow light followed by the red light is a cooling problem. thats wat sony told me.

i heard it had to do with either the fan or the hard drive....
but its not overheated or anything cuz i hav it in a well ventilated place and i had just been playing for about 2 hrs when it just shut down all of a sudden and wouldnt turn bak on( and it was early mornin, no 1 had been playing it b4 me, and it had all nite to cool off) ...my brother can sit there for 5 hours sraight playing and it has nvr overheated.
