PS3 games (disc) not working

We just got our 80gb PS3 today and the games we bought don't work. It doesn't say anything. The machine just acts like there's not a disk in there. When I put a DVD in it played right away. I can't find anything in the troubleshooting manual on this. Please help!

Well is it used or brand new ? My 40 gig I first had did that it was the laser eye . It played dvds , blue rays but not disc based games . It cost bout hundred bucks to fix it but Ihavn't yet but I will I want two ps3's lol . Did u buy it used . have u tried a system update ?

if its brand new you can take it back to the store and they should give u a new one, hope you can fix that.

if it played blue ray then it should have played ps3 games because they are all blue ray. sounds like the eye had to have mine replaced a while back $120

I read your post and as per that i think you should check your Hard drive so it may happen that problem is in that part... if it not work then you should concern with some hardware expert so you may find the solution... or just replace it in warranty... Thanks for sharing the post...

My very first ps3 i bought did the same thing,being new and under the store warranty i was able to take it back and get a new one,later that one did the same thing it was the disc drive to my knowledge.Anyways if it's brand new take it back if not use the warranty if you purchased the additional 2 yr extended..Hope this helps you goodluck with it..
