LOL flagstealer lets not get carried away now. If the redsox trade manny they are going to get great players, its not like there going to trade for 2 minor leaguers. Nady and Marte were a good pickup and apparently the pirates are throwing away the next 10 years. There best bullpen arm and there best hitter. I still don't think the yankees will make the playoffs.

Jason Bay .282 22 hr 62 rbi

Similar seasons, with much less of a distraction. Manny is still one of the best in the game but he isn't putting up the numbers of the past. Jason bay is just getting into his prime while manny is slowly going out of his. He will never be out because thats how great he is but lets face it he isnt going to hit .315 have 40 hr and 120 rbi's anymore.

they have similar numbers but the presence of manny and ortiz in the lineup. its gone.

give me more numbers. thats just a broad outlook. baseball is a game of inches.

back to my other point they were the best 3 to 4 punch in baseball. now i will guarantee u ortiz numbers will go down even more. also manny played that wall better than anybody. did u see how the yankees played the wall when they came. misjudged a lot of fly balls. so yeah i look at the small things. this will hurt the red sox. GO YANKEES

I just realized why the deal isn't that bad. Manny is just a 2 month rental. Dodgers will get swept in 1st round by Cubs anyway. Boston gives up 2 players, one being Hansen who had potential but we've seen he can't bring it in the majors. And the other is Moss but he's already 27 and at best, I'd say he is Francouer caliber but he has no one who is gonna help him improve. Keeping Manny, the rest of the Sox were gonna implode this year and their playoff chances along with it. And think of the example young guns like Pedrioa and Ellsbury were under seeing behavior like Manny's each day in the clubhouse.
I'm glad they got rid of him becuase I can't stand watching zombie baseball like they were playing against the Angholes.
Bay is a good player for 1/4 of the price for this year, and 1/3 next year. He can bring all star caliber for a lot less money. And if you think Manny played the wall well, I don't think it takes too much skill to do that if you play there as the home team for 81 games. Bay also runs well.
BUT the real steal in this, was getting a assload of money for this offseason. Need a preview of who's available? Manny, CC, Texiera, Vlad, Ken Griffey, Cliff Floyd, Brad Wilkerson, Rocco Baldelli, Garret Anderson, Adam Dunn, Pat Burrell, Milton Bradley, Chipper Jones, Hank Blalock, O-Cab, Ekstein, Furcal, Renteria, C-Del, Giambi, Abreu, Pudge, Miguel Olivo, Michael Barrett (Sox will probably get him), Ben Sheets, AJ Burnett, Brad Penny, Mark Prior, Ryan Dempster, Brian Fuentes, Kerry Wood, K-Rod (Maybe already resigned?), Yanks new guy Marte, Ohman, Bob Howry, Farnsworth. Need I say more? Sox just got a huge amount of cash to land a premier SS ala Furcal, and get some starting pitching and relievers. They won't win the WS this year anyway but they're gonna be stacked for next year.

bay has also never played in games that matter EVERY DAY. bay is no manny. ill give u that the angels are very good. looks like the AL east is slipping away for the yankees. so i will say yankees win AL wild card. but im not giving up on the east yet
