Re: The Official 2008 Baseball Thread

another big trade-

1. cubs acquired rich harden from the A's

2. yankees defeat the rays 5-0

3. red sox come back and win 6-5

sox fans cheering for the yankees i have a feeling it will be yankees vs red sox by august. rays will have fallen out of it

Re: The Official 2008 Baseball Thread

and i have a feeling that you haven't watched much baseball.

Red Sox will win the division and the Rays will get the wildcard. Idk if you have noticed but the rays are a completely different team now. All of there starting pitchers are younger than 26, there bullpen is full of veteran's and can eat up many innings. The rays will deffinitly be in the post season. Once Pena starts swinging the bat like he did last year, and crawford picks it up even though hes having a strong season he could do much better. Sorry flagstealer but stop listening to woody paige on around the horn and watch some live baseball so you don't listen to analyst who get paid to make stupid points.

are u serious beast?

u said the point right there. ALL OF THERE STARTING PITCHERS ARE UNDER 26. they can not handle the stretch run when the games start to matter even more and more. im not sure if u saw last nights game but the yankees won 5-0. i truthfully do not see this rays team sticking around much longer. u can believe in them but they are the indians of 05. there year will come but not this year

(also woody paige has been right the last 3 years when he was the ONLY ONE ON THAT SHOW to say yankees would make the playoffs. anyways ESPN IS A JOKE and loves boston, especially steve phillps )

NL may be bad, but my team, The Chicago Cubs, will give any team in the AL a run for there money. They just got Harden from the A's which even though they didn't need it is going to help them. Zambrano and Harden will be a good combo plus Dempster has been lights out this year. Marmol has been excellent this year as a closer, and Wood has done well closing except for a couple outings. I really hope the Cubs end the drought this year.

Re: The Official 2008 Baseball Thread

Harden was a great pickup even if he does get injured. They didnt give to much up for him and when hes on the mound hes a lights out pitcher. Its a high risk/high reward trade. If there 26 there arms will be fresh buddy. Beckett didn't need expierence in the 2003 world series now did he? Beckett was 23. He pitched on 3 days rest and tossed a 5 hit complete game in the WORLD SERIES TO WIN THE WORLD SERIES. Don't say that just because there 26 and younger that they can't last down the stretch. Please watch some baseball im not even going to waste time owning you when apparently you know nothing.

Cmon Flag stealer Beckett,Dice K, Lester,Buchholzes Wakefield
(most consistant pitcher in the league year by year BTW), Masterson, and Colon is a preety good core

and and we have a kid in the minors named zink who can throw a 96 fast ball and he can throw a nuckle ball!

you cant say our pithers cant handle pressure when your relying on sidney ponson....

ill give you one thing..... our bullpen sucks, but their pickin it up

Re: The Official 2008 Baseball Thread

The Brewers can have CC he was nothing but a choke artist for Indians in the playoffs last year. They can have him with his season beginning ERA of 13 something. We got plenty of other quality pitchers to replace his fat a s s with. Not to mention this years soon to be Cy Young winner in Cliff lee.

Re: The Official 2008 Baseball Thread

If Ortiz comes back strong, we will be in the world series again. A lineup that has a 7th hole hitter hitting over .300(Kevin Youkillus) is doing pretty damn good. At I agree that CC needs to prove himself as a postseason presence or he will be nothing more than a regular season 15 game winner.

Re: The Official 2008 Baseball Thread

Boston.com said that the sox gave Barry Bonds a work out.... could you imagine the all time hr king off the bench? plus he could give Ortiz,Manny, and Jacoby rest so they dont tire out

Re: The Official 2008 Baseball Thread

Bonds would have to DH. I don't think he would be able to handle the outfield. Even though he wouldn't have to do much running with the Green Monster. I'd love to have bonds. Just his presence alone would be great.Casey is batting .370 off the bench and to add bonds with that and brandon moss and alex cora. We could be real deep.

Re: The Official 2008 Baseball Thread

ponson is 2-1

he was 4-1 with texas.. he can still pitch

what happened to the rays.....ahhh sweep. walk off win!!

yankees split with the red sox, sweep the rays in a 2 game set. WITHOUT WANG, matsui, damon,

once yankees get back them they will be even BETTER. go yankees!!!!!!!

once again ill say the RAYS ARE NOT FOR REAL!!!!!!!!! IM TIRED OF PEOPLE HYPING UP THIS TEAM. so beast can u tell me what happened to the indians of 05..????? EXPLAIN. theres a difference between 1 pitcher at 26 pitching good in the world series AND A WHOLE TEAM playing good.

rays lose again 8-4

yankees win

more important to any of this is the passing of Bobby Murcer

R.I.P Murcer. a great yankees player, commentator, and person
