Yeah, I don't like Windows Sidebar it sucks lol, I use Yahoo Widgets.

Yahoo! Widgets: useful, fun, beautiful little apps for Mac and Windows

Theres the link, just search for whatever widget you want to go on your desktop and you'll be ok.
